| 2016-17 Stlprepsports.com Basketball Rankings I | ||||||||
| Date: 12/11/16 | ||||||||
| The 1st ranking is going to be Small and Large Schools together | ||||||||
| 1. Vashon 5-0 Nationally ranked and full of Division 1 Players. The best team in the area. | ||||||||
| 2. Chaminade 4-1 They have two must see players in Barrington Davis and Jericole Hellems. I was surprised they lost to Champaign Central though. | ||||||||
| 3. Edwardsville 6-1 Threw a clunker against Belleville West but came back with two 30+ point wins against Belleville East and Collinsville. They have a great core of players. | ||||||||
| 4. Althoff 5-2 They have two losses and there against Edwardsville and State Champion Chicago Curie by one point. They lost a lot but still have Jordan Goodwin. | ||||||||
| 5. Webster Groves 2-1 It’s not a very big sample, the loss was to Champaign Central by two points. They get Carte’ Gordon in January will make them very tough later in the season. They have Courtney Ramey. | ||||||||
| 6. East St. Louis 6-2 They were beat Champaign Central by 24 points to start the season, and lost to State Champion Chicago Curie by ten points at UIC. Belleville East had them on the ropes and couldn’t hit any free throws to let them off the hook. They do have 6’10” Jeremiah Tilmon | ||||||||
| 7. Belleville West 4-2 . They have two losses one against an average Farmington team to start the season. Then they went on to win the Vianney Invitational and there SWC at The E contest against Edwardsville. They lost a close one against East St. Louis on the road 72-66 | ||||||||
| 8. Belleville East 4-2 The fourth SWC team in the rankings. They had East St. Louis on the ropes in The SWC at The E but couldn’t hit any free throws to seal the deal. Edwardsville beat them 84-45 in their next game. These teams are in the conference schedules now. | ||||||||
| 9. SLUH 5-1 The only loss was to Vianney. They have been missing some key players. They have UMKC recruit Brandon McKissic and he is fun to watch | ||||||||
| 10. St. Mary’s 6-0 They beat CBC on their home court 78-72. They havent done anything wrong yet. They have a solid core of three Yuri Collins, Antonio Burks and Yahuza Rasas | ||||||||
| Honarable Mention: 11. CBC 12. Cardinal Ritter 13. Hazelwood Central 14. Ritenour 15. Vianney | ||||||||
I read somewhere that vashon carries 7 freshman, 3 of which see considerable clock…not sure who all he has seen play so far,but jack(my pops) has been impressed by st.marys.. probably as much as surprised as anything by them.I see schs is 6-0…surprise?

St. Charles hasn’t played anybody yet. The teams they played have a record of 7-18. St. Mary’s has one of my favorite point guards #1) Yuri Collins G Sophomore 5’11” has all the tools. He’s averaging 10 points a game, 4.8 assists a game and is only going to get better and better. They have two other good players in #22) Antonio Burks G JR 6’2″ is averaging 19.2 points per game and is shooting 88% from the line. He can really shoot. The last player is #44) Yahuza Rasas F/C JR 6’6″ 16.3 points 4.0 rebounds per game. The St. Mary’s coach is Kelvin Lee the former coach of Chaminade ,Bradley Beals and David Lee. They will be really tough as the year goes on.
Vashon does have a lot of freshman on the team but the main core is#32) Levi Stockard III F/C SR 6’8″ already committed to Kansas State, #5) Daniel “Peanut” Farris PG SR 6′ some low end Division 1 schools interested and last but not least #4) Mario McKinney G Soph 6’2″ has all the big programs looking at him. The Vashon coach is Tony Irons, an excellent coach. He is the son of former Vashon iconic coach Floyd Irons.
