Duchesne did a pretty good job on Whitfield’s #5) Watson in the first half with him only scoring eight points in the first half. The bad side was that Duchesne’s #23) Mitch Fairless got his second foul with 4:54 left in the first half and didn’t get back in the game till the start of the second half. He is their best offensive option. Duchesne had a tough time shooting especially #25) Adam Moore 4/13 from the field and #12) Cooper Tune 1/8 from the field. They had some costly turnovers that turned into eight points for Whitfield. Duchesne chucked up nine threes and hit two in the fourth quarter. Duchesne had a solid effort but second best tonight.
Whitfield’s #5) Torrence Watson started off slow and scored eight points in the first half and picked it up in the second half and scored 15 in the second half to score a game high 23 points and was seven of eight from the line in the fourth quarter. They played good defense and only allowed 14 points in the first half. They got some big threes by #35) Aurelio Stucco in the fourth quarter and #4) Max Holton in the first half. They were 9 for 13 from the line in the fourth quarter. Good Win

Team Summary:
Duchesne struggled with the man to man defense. #23) Mitch Fairless even struggled and was almost disappeared sometimes. This was the first time I seen him struggle all year. The third quarter Jennings put the screws on the press and caused six turnovers and seven points scored off of them. They don’t match up well to athletic teams and that happen tonight.

Jennings never trailed and led start to finish. #23) Elijah Hicks did an excellent job on Duchesne’s #23) Fairless and actually made him look bad in the third quarter. They did well on the free throw line in the second half 18/23 78%. They didn’t hit a three pointer 0 for 7. Jennings played very well tonigh especially on defense.

1.(2) Belleville West (14-1) won the very tough Centralia Holiday Tournament and beat a very tough Champaign Central in the final 62-61. Their only loss was in the TOC in Washington , IL
2. (3) Chaminade (11-2) beat a very tough Morgan Park by 13 points in the Highland Shootout. They still have a very bad loss to Vianney but they migh be playing the best basketball.
3. (4) Webster Groves (7-4) have a 30 point win against a good Marquette team and two wins against national talent since Ramey is back but next opponent is Oak Hill Academy.
4. (4) Hazelwood Central (14-1) won the Coaches vs Cancer Holiday Tournament and beat the previously unbeaten St. Mary’s In the final. Their only loss was to Orr Academy from Chicago. They didn’t do anything wrong and added a two poin t win against CBC
5. (6) Hillsboro (15-0) not the toughest schedule but have two tournament championships. They beat an ok SLUH team and have a major talent in Gavin Pinkley. They’re getting better.
6. (8) Francis Howell (8-3) they have a bad loss to Troy Buchanan in the second game of the year and should of beaten #2) Hazelwood Central at Lindenwood in a three overtime classic. The last loss was to Trinity that won the MICDS tournament. They just won Kaminsky in Joplin
7. (7) Parkway Central (8-3) losses were to A good Liberty team and a very good Romeoville team. Their loss in the MICDS tournament was to a solid Duchesne team that got second. They shouldnt lose for a long time now
8.) (11) Edwardsville (10-4) losses were to three out of town teams and #1) Belleville West. They have an old school player in Jack Marinko and he is a must see.
9. (9) Kirkwood (8-3) have lost three out of four but to SS#2) St. Mary’s and SS#3) Jennings and a loss in their own tourney to Soldan. See a trend not very good against athletic teams
10. (10) Fort Zumwalt South (11-2) they have losses to a hot Fort Zumwalt West team and a very good Glendale team. They really don’t have a test to they play Liberty twice later in season

Small Schools
1. (1) Vashon (6-2) losses to Chaminade and Jonesboro Ark both really good teams. Big win against Champaign Central at Highland. They have a must see in Mario McKinney. Always tough no different this year
2. (2) St. Mary’s (12-2) had their first loss in Coaches vs Cancer against LS#2) Hazelwood Central. They were a little banged up no excuses they lost.They lost to a good Duchesne and was playing their sixth game in seven days . They are a must see especially on the run.
3. (3) Jennings (11-2) got 3rd place in the tough Coaches vs Cancer Tournament. Their losses to Whitfield earlier in the season and a loss to LS#2) Hazelwood Central in the CVC tournament.
4. (4)Trinity (11-2) losses earlier in the year to SS#3) Jennings and LS#12) SLUH. They are now a different team after winning the MICDS Holiday Invitational with some big school wins. They beat a good Cardinal Ritter team.
5. (5) Alton Marquette (16-0) have two tournament championships. Schedule strength is why their number 5 but haven’t done anything wrong yet
6. (7) Confluence (12-4) they have three losses to out of town teams including the team LS#1) Belleville West lost to. The other loss is to LS#1) Belleville West. They played a tough schedule
7. (8) Whitfield (11-4) had two losses in the MICDS Holiday Invitational to Liberty without Kaleb Overall and loss by 19 to LS#9) Francis Howell. Their only good win was against SS#3) Jennings earlier in the year. They have a must see in Torrence Watson
8. (9) Duchesne (8-3) losses to SS#3) Jennings and SS#4) Trinity in the championship of the MICDS Holiday Invitational. The other loss was to a very good Pinckneyville. They had a big win against SS#2) St. Mary’s
9. (6) Cardinal Ritter (12-5) have three losses to out of town teams and their in town losses to SS#1) Vashon and a very bad loss to Hazelwood West. They are coming off a very good tournament in Carbondale. Consistency?
