1. Chaminade 13-1  They beat a great Champaign Central in the Highland Optimist Shootout and destroyed the very good Sikeston team. Who is going to beat this team in the Metro area?
2. Edwardsville  13-1 They won the very tough Collinsville Christmas Tourney and beat Althoff in the final. They have Mark Smith that is getting better and better every day. They beat East St. Louis by 11 points on the 3rd.
3. Webster Groves 10-2  They loss a tough one in the Coaches vs Cancer at Meramec to SLUH but bounced back in the third place game to beat Hazelwood Central soundly. They will be getting Carte’ Gordon later in January. They beat Belleville East in the Highland Optimist Shootout
4. SLUH  12-4 They got 2nd place in the very tough Coaches vs Cancer Holiday Tournament at Meramec. It took St. Mary’s overtime to beat them. They came back and beat St. Mary’s by 11 points on the 7th. They have Brent Smith back. They are well coached.
5. East St. Louis  11-6 They played a very tough schedule with losses to Champaign Central, Chicago Curie, Tampa Catholic, and loss to Althoff in the Collinsville Christmas Tournament . They did win the 3rd place game against Springfield Southeast. They beat Althoff without Goodwin in the 2nd Half.
6. CBC  10-6 They have probably played the toughest schedule of all the Metro area teams. They have losses against Champaign Central, St. Mary’s, Peoria Manual, Chaminade, Hazelwood Central, and Chicago North Lawndale. They play hard and maybe with a little too much contact.  They have a five game win streak and a revenge win against Hazelwood Central. They play St. Mary’s on the 16th
7. Belleville West 9-4 They won the Vianney Tournament then the next day they beat Edwardsville. There the only one to beat Edwardsville all year. They got 2nd in the Centralia Holiday Tourney. They have a tough schedule ahead.
8. Belleville East  9-6  They have loses against East St. Louis, Edwardsville, Alton, and Decatur Eisenhower. Did have three wins in a row at the Collinsville Holiday Tournament. They had a bad loss against O’Fallon IL and a good loss against Webster Groves.
9. Hazelwood Central 9-6  They have played a really tough schedule. They have losses to Belleville West, SLUH, Hartville, St. Mary’s, and Webster Groves. They have wins against CBC, Whitfield, They have some wins against some Springfield teams. They are not the same team as last year.
10. Ritenour 10-3  They are on a four game winning streak and their last loss was to Chaminade. They won the Warrior Classic. They beat a 9-5 Soldan team twice and Francis Howell 11-4.
Small Schools
1. Vashon  9-2 They have two losses to out of town teams but the first loss was Blue Valley NW and there not even going to win their conference. I think their size makes the difference and probably the second best team in area. They haven’t played in awhile
2. St. Mary’s 13-1 They won the loaded Coaches vs Cancer Holiday Tournament . They have wins at CBC, SLUH, and Hazelwood Central. They lost their first game to SLUH on the 7th. They play CBC at SLUH on the 16th. They have three great players in Collins, Burks, Rasas
3. Althoff  9-4 The three loses are to great teams Edwardsville twice and defending State Champion Chicago Curie by one point. They did get 2nd in the Collinsville Holiday Tournament. They lost to East St. Louis without Goodwin in the second half. They have the best player in the area in Jordan Goodwin. Goodwin’s shoulder??
4. Jennings  13-2  They have a six game winning streal and some good wins. Kyle Younge had 32 points against Kirkwood, They will get better as the year goes on.
5. Breese Central  12-3  They won the Mater Dei Christmas Tourney, There on a 10 game winning streak. There always tough in all sports.
6. Okawville  14-2 They took third place in the Mater Dei Christmas Tourney. They lost to Breese Central and a bad loss to Highland.
7. Cardinal Ritter  12-3  The three losses were all to out of town teams. They haven’t done anything wrong against the local teams.
8. Miller Career  9-4  They have losses all against good teams. They have good wins against Rock Bridge, MICDS, and Whitfield. They have a good core. They can beat anybody on a good day.
9. Mater Dei  9-4 They have a big game against Breese Central on the 16th. They have four losses against good teams. The four losses is why their number nine
10. Alton Marquette 15-2 They won the Freeburg-Columbia Christmas Tournament. They loss to Breese Central and Civic Memorial. They did beat Civic Memorial in the Christmas Tourney. Their schedule isnt as tough as the other Illinois small school teams.
