Game Summary:
CM took a six point lead into the break. They lost it in the third quarter by being outscored 20-10 . They couldn’t make up anything in the fourth quarter. I think they didn’t go to their best player enough #23) Allie Troeckler in crunch time. That had some to do with the good defense Highland showed against her but she should be able to take anyone on the floor one on one. They were undefeated till this game with 16 wins and would of had to beat Highland three times in one year which is tough to do.
Highland hung tough and stayed close. They had two players that stepped up late #13) Alex LaPorta and #22) Madison Wellen. #13) Alex LaPorta had a tough time around the basket but everything else she did was great. She made free throws and passed very well and did get some big baskets. #22) Madison Wellen was solid through the whole game and hit the shot and especially threes to keep Highland in the game. You have to give them credit they fought for CM not to beat them three in a row. They move to 14-3 and probably betters their #4 ranking in the state.

The sophomore #12) Daylan Dalton played great defense and really stopped one of the better point guards in the area in Pattonville’s Destan Williams for most of the gasme. Howell has a good core and they will win more than their share of games.
Pattonville has a lot of pure athletes, I don’t know if they have the killer instinct. They went long periods of the game without scoring. They have #22) Richard Henderson Jr an Austin Peay recruit and a tremendious athlete. Pattonville’s #1) Destan Williams is a great point guard but his size is a problem. Pattonville’s #10) Derrick Boyce III kept the Pirates in the game in the fourth quarter

2. Chaminade  7-1 They have two must see players in Barrington Davis and Jericole Hellems. I was surprised they lost to Champaign Central though. They had two big wins against SLUH and CBC
3. Edwardsville  6-1  Threw a clunker against Belleville West but came back with two 30+ point wins against Belleville East and Collinsville. They have a great core of players. They haven’t played since December 9th.
4. Webster Groves 2-1  It’s not a very big sample, the loss was to Champaign Central by two points. They get Carte’ Gordon in January will make them very tough later in the season. They have Courtney Ramey.
5. Althoff  5-2  They have two losses and there against Edwardsville and State Champion Chicago Curie by one point. They lost a lot but still have Jordan Goodwin. They haven’t played since December 9th
6. East St. Louis  6-2  They were beat Champaign Central by 24 points to start the season, and lost to  State Champion Chicago Curie by ten points at UIC. Belleville East had them on the ropes and couldn’t hit any free throws to let them off the hook. They do have 6’10” Jeremiah Tilmon
7. St. Mary’s  7-0  They beat CBC on their home court 78-72. They haven’t done anything wrong yet. They have a solid core of three Yuri Collins, Antonio Burks and Yahuza Rasas
