Webster Groves ties the score at 50 with 7:14 left with a basket by #11) Potts. Central answers with a basket by #23) Gill. Webster goes on a 5-0 run with a three by #10) Adams and a two by #23) Ford to make the score Webster 55-52 with 6:08 left. The two teams trades threes Central’s #24) Finke and Webster’s #10) Adams to make it Webster 58-55 with 5:29 left. Central’s #25) Wallen hits two free throws and Webster’s #10) Adams hits three free throws to make it Webster 61-57 with 4:20 left. Webster’s #13) Ramey comes back in the game with 4:33 left. Central’s #14) Walker Stillman answers with a three to get it within one with 3:49 left in the game. Champaign Central would score the last four points of the game with #25) Wallen going one for two from the line and #1) Bradley Dee getting a three point play with 25.9 seconds left for the game winner. The final score was Champaign Central 68-66.
Game Summary:
Champaign Central really did a great job on Webster Groves #13) Courtney Ramey in the first half. He had only three points and really had a tough time when Central’s #24) Tim Finke was guarding him. Champaign Central has a solid core of three players Finke and #25) Doug Wallen and #23) A’Keon Gill all were double figures and they’re well coached by Jeff Finke. They would be one of the better teams in the St. Louis Metro Area.
Webster Groves had a four point lead after the first quarter but only scored 12 points in the second quarter to be down four at the break. They are small but that will change in January with 6’9″ Cart’e Gordon. #13) Courtney Ramey was held in check in the first half and was more aggressive in the second half to end up with 13 points. He was involved in plaly that a double t was called and he had two fouls in seconds in the third quarter that costs him five minutes in the second half. They hung in tough but lost when it counted. My preseason #1 Team has to do better
